The game's Objective determines how to win the game and how points are awarded. There are three different possible objectives.

NOTE: In teams games, Mercenary and Assassin are only available if there are more than two teams in the game

Standard

Only the winner of the game gains points, at the expense of all other players/teams.

Mercenary

Players gain points for every other player they eliminate during the game. A player does not have to "win", or be "the last Player standing" in order to get points. A player will also lose points if they are eliminated.

In team games, points are awarded for eliminating players, rather than teams.

Assassin

Each player is randomly assigned a target, who is highlighted in the Intel tab and noted privately in the Chatter tab. The winner is the player whose target is eliminated, even if by a third party.

In team games, each team is assigned a player on another team as a target. Only 1 of those assigned targets needs to be eliminated for the team to win.

As One

A special option for team Mercenary and Assassin games, As One treats teams as discrete units. Thus, in Mercenary, points are only awarded for eliminating the last member of a team. In Assassin, each team is assigned another team as a target, and must eliminate all members of that team to prevail.
