One of the cool things about MajorCommand's game interface is that every player can choose their own color along with the colors of all their opponents. It's as simple as clicking the Color button up in the right-hand corner of the game screen and selecting each player's color. The most significant use of color is in the troop containers, but color is also noted in the player row and the tabs. However, there are a lot of colors to choose from, and larger games can get a little confusing if you don't pick the right colors. No one wants to be the person who attacks the black player, only to realize that they in fact attacked the dark brown player.

General Color Recommendations

  • Try and make every player as distinct as possible from everyone else. This can be tricky in large games, so there's a handy guide below
  • In Assassin Games, it's a good idea to mark your target with a nice bold color. I prefer red, but anything eye-catching will work just fine.
  • In Team Games, you can make your life easier by giving each team its own general color palette. This can be simple in head-to-head games, where everyone on your team has a darker color and everyone on the other team has a lighter color, or vice-versa, but it can really save your bacon in larger games with more than two teams. Keeping teams straight in your head in a twelve-player doubles game can take some experimentation.

Map-Specific Color Recommendations

Each map has its own palette, and what follows are twelve colors for each map that are reasonably differentiated. Of course, most of your games will probably have fewer than twelve players, and ultimately only you know what colors will work best for you, but the recommendations will hopefully give you a place to start and may help save you some time and headache.

  • Classic Evolved: black, blue, brown, enemy, horizon, lemon, lime, magenta, mango, olive, red, white
  • Classic Massive: black, blue, clay, cloudy, copper, cyan, electriclime, enemy red, green, orange, rainbow, red
  • Classic Mini: aqua, black, cinnamon, coral, frog, gray, grape, honey, lemon, mustard rose, white
  • The British Isles: black, crimson, fire, fog, green, honey, lavender, light blue, pink, sand, sunset, white
  • Cold War Europe: since this map features three different shapes for troop containers, finding enough for twelve players should be a cakewalk
  • South America: like Europe, South America has more than ample selection, thanks to the mapmaker's innovative use of the country flags
  • USA: black, blue, enemy, gray, green, lavender, lemon, lime, orange, totally pink, white, yellow
